Paying your tuition fees at King’s

The type of course, your level of study (e.g. Undergraduate or Postgraduate) and your fee status (e.g. Home or Overseas) will determine when your invoice will be issued. For full details of when you will be invoiced and when you are expected to pay, check the When to pay my fees webpage.

I have not been invoiced yet - how do I obtain an early tuition fee invoice?

If you require your invoice earlier than scheduled, you will be able to request this by completing the Request an Early Tuition Fee Invoice form. However, to minimise the administrative overheads that come with issuing invoices earlier than is standard practice, we kindly request that this form is only completed where an “early” invoice is essential.

Before submitting your request, please be aware of the following conditions:

Who will be invoiced for my tuition fees?

Who is liable for your tuition fees depends on which type of funding you have planned for your studies. Either you are personally responsible for paying your fees (self-funded), or an external organisation has agreed to provide your funding to King’s on your behalf (sponsored). You may also have funding agreed from an internal King’s department.

Am I sponsored or self-funded?
King's College London will consider you to be a ‘sponsored’ student where your tuition fees are being paid to King’s College London directly from either an 'internal department or external organisation'.

You will be considered to be a ‘self-funded’ student where:

Important to know: If you are self-funded, and someone is making payments on your behalf, this person must be personally known to you. We strongly advise that you should be wary of any individual or organisation which you don’t know or have not applied to, approaching you to offer to pay your fees. Fraud targeted at students paying tuition fees is unfortunately common. For more detailed guidance, please refer to our information on scams and fraud and make sure you are following King’s guidance for methods of payments only.

How do I inform King's that I'm being sponsored?

In some instances, you will not need to provide a copy of the funding letter; for further guidance on being sponsored for your fees, please refer to our article I am sponsored for my tuition fees; what do I need to know?

Students are always welcome to make a payment towards their tuition fees any time before the due date and to break up the amount into smaller more manageable payments so long as the balance is paid by the due date. In order to make a payment you would not normally need an invoice.

Payments for tuition & residence fees are made through our payment platform which is called Global Pay for Students. If you want to know how to make a payment in advance, then please refer to the How to pay my fees webpage to review your options.

I’m starting the next year of my studies; how can I find out the fees for the upcoming year?

For applicants and new students recently enrolled, your course fees for your first academic year can be found in your offer letter which will have been emailed to your nominated address and can be found in your application on King’s Apply.

If you are re-enrolling and continuing on to your next year of study at King’s you will be referred to as a ‘returning student’ or ‘continuing student’. As a returning student you are going into your second, third, or fourth, etc., year of study.

If you are a returning student and you are looking to confirm the tuition fees for the current academic year, you can use our online calculator after 1 June to check this.

Once invoices are generated they are sent to your college email as a PDF attachment and are also accessible in your Student Records Portal by visiting the Fee Statement task. The academic year runs from 1 September to 31 August.

To use the returning fees calculator you will need your programme code (CRS code). Student Records sends an email prior to the start of the new academic year to all continuing students about fees for that new year. The email contains:
